Welcome to Indonesia
May 22, 2015: The Pinrang District Court of South Sulawesi has sentenced a couple, Amir alias Dawang, 45, and his wife Maemunah, 43, to death for selling drugs.

“The defendants were proven guilty of selling drugs. Both were sentenced to death,” presiding judge Fitria Ade Maya said.

The sentences were heavier than earlier sought by prosecutors, who asked the court to sentence Dawang and Maemunah to 20 and 15 years in prison, respectively.

The court also sentenced Ilham, 21, to life, as he helped to transport drugs for the couple.

The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) arrested the couple in their house in Marawi village, Tiroang district, Pinrang regency on Sept. 22 last year, confiscating 6.8 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
